Snow under your feet, fresh mountain air in your lungs and plenty of trail running fun. During this winter weekend in the Jungfrau region, we swap our familiar trails for snowy mountain paths, sparkling snow and views that make you forget just how hard you’re working. And there’s more than just trail running. Between runs, there’s time for cross-country skiing, relaxing and warming up in the cosy winter atmosphere. In the evening, we cook together, gather around the table and share the best moments of the day. A weekend full of snow, adventure and spontaneous laughter. The perfect way to experience winter at its most active!
After arriving at Spring Inn, we grab a few tasty snacks and pull on our trail shoes. Then we head straight out for another loop on Hasliberg. With our headlamps lighting the way, we enjoy the view of Meiringen’s lights from above. We’ll decide on the exact route shortly before the run.
Today we take the train back to Grindelwald and explore the other side of the valley. We run all the way up to the Faulhorn, following the world’s longest toboggan run in the opposite direction. From there, we continue to First for another photo stop before heading back down along the snowy trails.
In the morning, we head to Gadmen for a cross-country skiing lesson. This depends on the snow conditions, as there isn’t always enough trail left for skiing. If conditions allow, we’ll give it a go on the narrow skis. In the afternoon, we lace up our trail shoes again at Schwarzwaldalp and race the bus: we run uphill and sled back down, keeping pace with it. We can repeat the loop a few times, until we’ve had enough.
We take the train to Grindelwald, then run along a mix of country roads and winter hiking trails up to Männlichen, along the Royal Walk. At the top, we take in the views in every direction before starting the descent. The beautifully groomed winter trails take us down the 15 kilometres to Lauterbrunnen in no time. We probably won’t find much snow beyond Wengen, so we follow the Wall down to Lauterbrunnen and catch the train back to Meiringen.
We finish with one last loop on the Hasliberg trails. First, we take the lift up to Reuti. That’s where the clock starts: we race up the piste to Mägisalp, competing with the chairlift along the way. We reach the top with red cheeks, then take time to enjoy a well-earned hot chocolate. After that, we stroll along the winter hiking trails to Käserstatt and make our way back down via Balisalp. We walk all the way to Spring Inn, where there’s time for a quick shower before everyone heads home.
